There’s something about Tennessee that courts the imagination and livens out the heart with dreams of accidental romance, and the chance of an 80 degree weather with blue skies allover. Maybe it’s that charm where people talk in the most southern way, a combination of English and Molasses, that always seem to end a sentence with a smile. Maybe it’s the splendor of the mountains that surrounds it, where hikers from all over the world walk the famed Appalachian trail and share their adventures and stories.

I came across two dames from Sweden who were doing just that, tired as lumberjacks they happily talked about trees, animals and the landscape. But boy, they sure could use a lengthy bath and some strong soap for they smelled like the trees that the local wildlife have “marked” or bear droppings scattered along the landscape. And that’s okay, it’s Tennessee, it’s where the story telling capital city of the world is. A famous king once roamed around here— The king of Rock and Roll.
There’s a writing on the wall around these parts, and as Paul Laurence Dunbar puts it:
The South’s a place where kindness grows,
Where every smile is warm and slow.
A nod, a laugh, a tender tone—
A charm you carry long after you’ve gone.
That’s Tennessee. It’s where everything’s just a little warmer. Where your tea is sweet, your chicken is fried, and your stories are tall—but true enough to make you believe.
Thanks for dropping by my little corner of the world. If the story gave you a chuckle or made you pause and think, a like would be mighty kind. And if you’re feeling adventurous, well, hitting that subscribe button is like pulling up a chair and staying a while—always room for one more.
I subscribe back, by the way. It’s my way of saying, “Welcome to the club—snacks are in the back, goodtimes up front!”
Your comments make me smile, sometimes laugh out loud, and every now and then, they nudge me to dig a little deeper, write a little better. So, stick around—who knows what we’ll stumble upon next!
